$OA! RSO Underground Interview
$OA!, also known as “@steponanybody_” & “BABY MAXX $OA”, is a rising underground artist from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The young musician hosts his primary discography on the $OA SoundCloud page, consisting of one released track, the self-produced “$OA -NoWay!” from March of 2024. Also featured is a leaked track, “$OA! - SEXUALLY ACTIVE”, a clipped screen recording from his Instagram page of a “heartache” intro posted in early July 2024.
$oa also has a variety of tracks available on YouTube, under both the modern “$oa” moniker, alongside some older music video and audio releases under his former stage name, "Baby Maxx". The musician recently switched his branding and profiles to “$oa”, avoiding confusion with another artist of a similar name.
These past works include multiple video shoots with the director and creator Khali. Working with the teams at KhalDidThat Productions & Team Wilson Productions, $oa and Khali have collaborated on videos for multiple tracks, including the September 2023 video for Bad Bitches Runnin Shit (Tough Love), featuring both $oa (as Baby Maxx) and fellow underground artist Baseem MQ. KhalDidThat & Team Wilson have also worked with $oa on a video for Dead Wrong / Step On Anybody in August of 2023. This marks one of the first recorded instances of the artist using the “Step on Anybody” phrase, which has now evolved into his current “$oa” stage name.
$oa is inspired by the chill lyricism of the Chicago underground legend, Lucki. Like his idol, he too uses music as an expression of himself and his creativity. $oa was able to branch away from the local Wisconsin scene's norms of rapping solely about “drugs” and receiving love for his music that delves into a diverse variety of topics and feelings. An excerpt from his @SMDsoa YouTube channel bio explains the artist’s thought process on these new alternative and chill aesthetics he hopes to achieve with his post 2023 releases as $oa; “Trap artist turn underground… Leaving 2023 with a new aspect of music ($oa) switches lanes into a more melodic and chill genre or music ‘alternative trap’ lookin to make a break then in this up comin year”
In an exclusive interview with RSO, $oa discusses his introversion and feelings toward people, a positive message of “BEING YOURSELF”, & shares the story of a recent performance where a fan waited outside for him to autograph their body.

Where are you from? (How is the music scene there?)
…from Milwaukee WI and the music scene is basically tampered yk like if u not rapping about drugs u won't get no love
Why did you get into the music/creative industry?
I got into music as a way to express myself and my creativity
Who and what inspires you?
umm inspiration ..... Starting out in the rank of music I was introduced to lucki so naturally that's who I gravitated to and what Inspires me seeing people having fun
Do you have any stories of your artistic journey to share?
umm while at a show in Arizona a fan literally waited outside for me so I could sign hit titties shii ion know 🤣
What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
on thiing surprising about me is I really don't like people
What is your message to the world?
and a messeges for the world is BE YOURSELF no matter where u come from or who your "target audience" is be yourself
