Enter the World of "BBS: Balance Your Ego" Slange's Immersive Album Rollout

Slange, "Ballad Boy Slange: Balance Your Ego"

Slange is an alternative punk rap and rock artist from Atlanta who is in the process of an incredible 11-track album rollout for “Ballad Boy Slange: Balance Your Ego”. The project’s aesthetic influences dive deep into the mystic themes of ancient Egyptian mythology, while lyrics poetically navigate the personal life and feelings of the artist, his relationships, sobriety, spirituality, mental health, and more.

He has dropped a song and corresponding music video for this project “BBS” every month since August, featuring innovative visuals utilizing stop motion animation, multi-media artwork, breathtaking cinematography, costumes, and set design.

An entire universe of theming has been created by the artist to immerse fans in this project. Countless 3D animations, mood boards, visuals, and work-in-progresses, can be found throughout the artist’s social media.

Most impressive is an interactive website experience reminiscent of early animated computer games, with plenty of hidden secrets and artwork to explore. I highly recommend you take an adventure over to BalladBoySlange.com to see what he has in store.

Slange has been creating unique music, art, and more for decades, with so many connections and memories with your favorite artists throughout the years, including Lil Peep, Playboi Carti, and Migos. This release is only the beginning for Slange, there is absolutely no limit to what the future holds for the success of his art and this project. A true visionary and innovative creative, keep your eyes on Slange.

RSO Underground Interview with Slange

Who are you?

My name is Slange, pronounced like the terms. I'm a by-product of late 90s post-grunge, garage-rock, and rap. I call it Therapy Rap. I am a 28-year-old ATL native who lived in Boston for 3 years and LA for 5 along his musical journey. I'm just a homie trying to heal - everything else I'm still figuring out.

Where are you from? (How is the music scene there?)

Atlanta.

Big. Most of the people I know are in the alt/indie scene, but I mean, there's nothing but opportunities if you're looking for them. Sure, some clique aspect to things, but in this city everyone is hustling for something.

Why did you get into music?

The surface answer is: I was in film school and needed a different form of expression. Music was easier & quicker to make than films or television so when I wasn't on set or writing a screenplay I wound up writing music instead. The deeper answer goes more like: from the time I started writing I couldnt stop. Did that start in elementary school with little love note poems? Yes. Did I write 100s of these? Yes. And by the time I got into highschool my syntax and phrasing had developed enough to add rhythm and I just kept refining as the years went by. I have a complete record of the development of my expression of self via my notes app (3000+ notes from over a decade of time).

Who and what inspires you?

Honesty and authenticity inspires me. In order of who inspired me to get to where I am today (in regards to music): Atmosphere, Gym Class Heroes, Watsky, Mac Miller, Mick Jenkins, Westside Boogie, NiN, Incubus, Bush, Smino

Do you have any stories of your artistic journey to share?

I have so many stories. I've met Peep, worked for Migos, talked to Riley Reid on the phone, threw shows in LA for Xavier Wolf, Chief Keef, Trippie Redd. I honestly wouldn't even know where to begin, but shouts to everyone who helped make those moments turn into memories. I'll share this: in high school Jordan Carter and I would rap at lunch and dipped out on more cops than I care to count. So when I pop off, expect that collab.

What song/project are you currently promoting and what is the story behind it?

Im currently promoting Ballad Boy Slange: Balance Your Ego. It's an album about the pursuit of Balance. Between masculine and feminine voices, different vocal tones, genre blends, emotional perspectives. Growth.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I gotta keep some mystery about me
