RSO Underground Interview with Biscuit

Who are you?

I’m Biscuit, I’m a producer/engineer based out in San Diego working as an A&R for VG.

Where are you from? (How is the music scene there?)

I’m originally from Houston and the scene out there has been bubbling for a few years now. Between Big X Tha Plug and That Mexican OT the Houston sound has started to become its own.

Why did you get into the music/creative industry?

started out making music with my best friend in high school and thought that learned how to engineer for both of us then picked up producing later on. My a&r passions came about after just thinking about how to market and push him and I into the industry. All this combined is why I decided to take on the challenge of working in this industry.

Who and what inspires you?

Everything. I like a lot of different styles and genres, but I like the mixing of those genres. Also trying to find inspiration for other mediums for marketing purposes is something I look for everyday.

Do you have any stories of your artistic journey to share?

I have a few stories but some of the most fun I had was going to Florida for these artist retreats another producer, Stafford Beats, had hosted. He would find the biggest AirBnB he could find usually around 14+ beds and invite like 40+ artist to stay there for a week to just cook up 24/7. It was a great experience for me as it taught me how to handle myself in a setting like that and also made a ton of connections that have helped me out in a lot in my journey.

What song/project are you currently promoting and what is the story behind it?

Right now I’ve been working with a few artist out here in San Diego. The most recent project I’ve help with was with an artist named Lake aka JodieSama. We spent months working on his tape Purify and making sure it fit the theme of water. It’s a great listen especially if you like that underground sound.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

When I usually meet people I’m always introducing myself as a producer, so when people find out I also engineer or even work as an A&R for VG they always seem shocked like “Oh he really is working he’s not some bedroom producer.”

Where can we find your music and art?

You can find any of my projects as well as any of my artist and artist tied to VG on all platforms.

What is your message to the world?

Don’t give up on your happiness. It doesn’t matter what u do when u wake up in the morning as long as you went to bed that night fulfilled and happy with what u did that day. You could be a artist, a lawyer or even the guy who sets up the lights at concerts, as long as your happy with your life, your winning.
